Remove the cardboard from the inside of the hat before placing it in the mold.
Open the back strap and unfold the sweat band so that it does not add volume to the pressure area.
When the hat is placed on the pressure mold, smooth the hat against the mold of the hat so that there are no air gaps between the hat and the mold; air spaces will result in unwanted transfer effects.
Once you place the hat in the mold, check that the sweat band is still unfolded. Then, refasten the back strap to help keep the hat in place in the mold.
Make sure your design is placed 12.7 mm (0.5 inches) from the hat visor; this allows the Cricut Hat Press thermal board to cover the entire design during transfer.
Use a heat-resistant tape to secure your design to the hat: tape one side of the design down, smooth the design through the pressing area so that it is flat and taut against the hat, then tape the remaining sides. This ensures that there are no air gaps between your design and the hat and keeps your design in place during the transfer.
Designs must be within these recommended maximum dimensions: 2.25 high x 4.25 wide (5.7 cm wide x 10.79 cm wide).
Trim excess lining or paper near the design to help it position itself correctly on the curved surface of the hat
Clipping or notching lining/paper around the design where appropriate to allow it to flex over the curved surface of the hat
Allow the heat plate to extend approximately 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) beyond all edges of the design during transfer. This ensures that your design receives the necessary heat.
Once the hat is tightly fitted over the pressing mold, rest upright on the work surface with the pressure area facing up. Stabilize with one hand on the side while pressing with the other hand. The handle on the press mold of the hat is not designed for use during transfer.
