Chalkboard Vinyl: Cutting and Application instructions
Cut Chalkboard Vinyl with a Cricut Machine
- Lay the vinyl (liner side down) on the Cricut cutting mat.
- Select the images and size and load the rug into the machine.
- Please refer to the Vinyl Kiss Cut guide chart below to adjust your machine settings.
- Press CUT.
Preparation with Cricut Transfer Tape
- Remove the negative pieces from each of the images using the hook found in the Cricut Tool Kit, leaving the liner intact. This process is known as weeding.
- Remove the liner from the transfer tape liner. Take the transfer tape in each hand with the sticky side down.
- Gently lay the transfer tape over the images. To avoid bubbles, start in the center and work your way to the edges. Use a craft stick or scraper found in the cricut tool kit to buff (rub or buff) the tape onto the vinyl.
- Peel vinyl from vinyl siding at a 45 degree angle. If the vinyl doesn't separate from the liner, simply buff the transfer tape onto the vinyl again and then continue peeling the vinyl away from the liner.

- Make sure the project surface is clean and dry. Carefully lay the vinyl image transfer tape onto your surface, making sure the images are straight.
- Starting in the center and moving out to the edges, buff the transfer tape onto the surface. Use a craft stick or Cricut Scraper.
- Peel the transfer tape off the vinyl at a 45 degree angle. If the vinyl sticks to the transfer tape, simply buff the vinyl onto the surface again. Then continue peeling the transfer tape from the vinyl.

TipsIf you choose to cut both the vinyl and the liner, you can remove the vinyl liner and apply the vinyl to the surface by hand.
